Outstanding Citizenship Awards

Each year, the Pensacola Chapter SAR works with the Escambia County and Santa Rosa County schools to identify and recognize students who exemplify the high ideals of character and citizenship.

Each year, the chapter presents over 600 Outstanding Citizenship certificates across the two school systems!

JROTC Awards

The Sons of the American Revolution works with the local JROTC programs in area high schools to recognize  cadets who are outstanding examples of the principle of “citizen-soldier” that was exemplified by the Minutemen of the American Revolution.

Commanding Officers select the recipients within their unit based on the cadet’s leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence.  Each awardee must meet certain excellence criteria not only within their JROTC class, but also within their overall academic class.

Eagle Scout Recognition

Since 1980, the Sons of the American Revolution has been recognizing and making scholarship awards available to Scouts who reach the rank of Eagle each year.

When a Scout reaches the rank of Eagle, the SAR presents them with a certificate of recognition either through the mail or at their Court of Honor.

Additionally, the SAR conducts the Arthur M. and Berdena King Eagle Scout Award program each year.  This is a scholarship program open to any active Eagle Scout who has not reached his 19th birthday.

First Responders Awards

Every September, the Pensacola SAR holds our annual First Responders awards.  We present three different commendation awards:

  1. The Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal which is presented to those who have served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement.
  2. The Fire Safety Commendation and Medal which is presented to an individual for accomplishments and/or outstanding contributions in an area of fire safety and service.
  3. The Emergency Medical Services Commendation and Medal which is presented to an individual for accomplishments and/or outstanding contributions in the area of emergency medical services.

Additionally, the chapter strives to present a Heroism Commendation and Medal, recognizing outstanding bravery and self-sacrifice in the face of imminent danger – i.e., acts which involve great personal courage and risk to the recipient.  We also have presented the SAR Life Saving Medal to those individuals who have acted to save a human life without necessarily placing their own life or themselves in imminent danger.

Veterans Programs

The SAR has a number of programs that seek to honor our Veterans both within the organization and within the community at large.  Chapter members serve on Veterans Affairs boards and committees, as well as volunteer at VA Hospitals.

Most recently, the Pensacola Chapter has joined The United States of American Vietnam War Commemoration as a Commemorative Partner.  Through this program, we seek to thank and honor our veterans and the nine million families of all those who served during the Vietnam War.

If you would like more information on our Veterans Programs or on the Vietnam War Commemoration, please use our Contact Us form with either the subject “Veterans Programs” or “Vietnam War Commemoration.”
